The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holds in the Kingdom of Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18 2026. Beyond its robust sports policy and vast experience in hosting international football, which make it the preferred destination for AFCON 2025, Morocco’s outstanding hospitality infrastructure and efficient transport system will contribute to attracting lots of fans to the showpiece.
The North African country has proven over the years to have what it takes to comfortably accommodate national teams, official delegations, supporters, and football fans. In 2019, the Kingdom opened the Academy, a training complex for young footballers that was described by FIFA as one of “the biggest and highest-achieving sports academies in the world.” That year, Morocco was thronged by over 12 million tourists who were accommodated in the 90,000 rooms distributed among host cities. Not resting on its oars, the Moroccan government last year launched a two-pronged approach to modernize the country's hotel stock.
The programme termed Cap Hospitality and classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) will see loans of up to 100 million dirhams will be granted to finance the renovation of hotel infrastructure, with the state paying all interest. The loans, with a maximum maturity of 12 years, are aimed at modernising 25,000 rooms, including renovation, upgrading, acquisition of furniture, and implementation of energy efficiency programs.
