African players were at the centre of the 2024-2025 English Premier League, which was nothing short of thrilling. Players like Mohamed Salah keep making history at Liverpool, while Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa created one of the most feared duos in the league at Brentford.

Goalkeepers
Andre Onana (Manchester United / Cameroon)
Andre Onana is the only African goalkeeper, and he had a dismal season as Manchester United experienced their worst finish in half a century.
Even though Onana was able to keep nine clean sheets in the Premier League, the Cameroonian goalkeeper conceded 44 goals in just 25 games.
His save percentage of 66.9% placed him 15th among goalkeepers with 10 more appearances, while his 90 saves put him 12th overall.
Only three men made more mistakes than the 29-year-old, who made three that resulted in goals.

Riyan Aït-Nouri (Wolves / Algeria)

With 115 tackles and 216 duels for Manchester United, Mazraoui was placed second in Morocco and third among the league's defenders, respectively.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham / DR Congo)
Among Premier League defenders, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has since transferred allegiance to DR Congo, made the most interceptions (66) and completed the most dribbles (64). Because of his performance, supporters chose him as West Ham's player of the season.
According to one-versus-one.com, Aaron Wan-Bissaka played 2923 minutes, scored two goals (0.07 goals per 90 minutes), and contributed five assists.

Alex Iwobi (Fulham / Nigeria)
Alex Iwobi, who made 38 appearances for Fulham and scored nine goals and provided six assists, proved to be the most inventive midfield player in Africa. During these appearances, he played 2981 minutes of action. Alex Iwobi also created 59 chances and 508 successful passes.
Amad Diallo (Manchester United / Ivory Coast)
Amad Diallo played 1,903 minutes and made 26 appearances for Manchester United during the 2024–25 Premier League season. With a goals per game rate of 0.24, he was credited with nine league goals. In addition, he had 22 shots on target, 58 shots, and 8 assists.
Carlos Baleba (Brighton & Hove Albion / Cameroon)
Carlos Baleba of Cameroon demonstrated that he is headed towards stardom by winning back possession for his Brighton team 197 times.
For the midfielders on the continent, that number is at the top, followed closely by Gueye (194).
Idrissa Gueye (Everton / Senegal)
Idrissa Gana Gueye used his experience to help Everton comfortably maintain their Premier League status in their final season at Goodison Park.
The 35-year-old Senegalese led the league with 133 tackles and won 221 duels, more than any other African midfielder.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool / Egypt)

Mohamed Salah had 38 appearances in the 2024–25 Premier League season, with 18 assists and 29 goals. He played 55% of the total minutes and started 38 games.
The 32-year-old led the division in predicted goals (25.4), minutes per goal (116.5), total shots (130), total shots on goal (61), and touches in the opposing area (394). He also created 89 chances.
Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford / Cameroon)
Bryan Mbeumo significantly surpassed his projected goals by finding the net 20 times and providing 7 assists, with the tool that rates the quality of chances indicating that his efforts were only worth 12.3 goals.
Yoane Wissa (Brentford / DR Congo)
Yoane Wissa appeared in 39 Premier League games in 2024-25, scoring 19 goals and assisting four times. He played 3161 minutes and averaged 0.6 goals per 90 minutes. Transfermarkt reports that Wissa made 39 appearances this season.
Mbeumo forged a deadly partnership with 19-goal attacker, who scored per 154.1 minutes for the DR Congo, giving him the continent's second-best strike rate.
